Jake Abbatacola
Grammar School/Upper School Latin & Upper School Science Instructor
Bachelor of Science, Secondary Education, Arizona Christian University | Master of Education, Educational Leadership, Arizona State University
I have the privilege of teaching in both the Grammar and Upper Schools here at Caritas. Previously, I taught for eight years in Arizona public schools, covering a variety of subjects. My most recent position was at an ACCS school in Tennessee. There, I taught Literature, History, and Great Books in the middle grades. Now, in my first year at Caritas, I teach Latin for the 3rd through 7th Grades, and Science for the 7th and 9th Grades.
I grew up with a desire to teach the Bible in some way. While in college, I was led to pursue a degree in Education, which I received from Arizona Christian University. I later received an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University. It was soon after this that my wife and I discovered Classical Christian Education and the Association of Classical Christian Schools. We quickly knew we needed to make this transition, both professionally and for our children. Looking back, we could not be more thankful. It has been a huge blessing for all of us. Classical education and discipleship go hand-in-hand, and I am honored to be a part of it at Caritas. It is truly my passion to see students grow deeper in their knowledge of God, His Word, His creation, and the life to which He has called them.
My wife, Allie, and I have been married for 13 years. We have four children, all of whom attend Caritas. I am an avid fan of sports, history, theology, and politics, and I enjoy spending my spare time learning about and discussing those topics. My family and I pass the time playing sports and other games together, learning new things, and building relationships within the body of Christ.
